Inquisitions Post Mortem

Until 1620 when feudal tenure was abolished inquisitons post mortem were conducted on the death of landowners. Their purpose was to determine who was the overlord of the land and who was the heir.

Wolston Dixie the Lord Mayor of London has an extensive IPM and IPMs exist for a number of early Dixies, some of whom the relationships to the Dixie baronetcy line are not clear.
