The main seat of the Dixies was at Market Bosworth in Leicestershire. According to the IPM of Wolstan Dixie the Lord Mayor, he bought this property from Henry Hastings, Earl of Huntingdon in 1589. Market Bosworth was held by the Dixies until 1856 or thereabouts when it was sold after a protracted law case.
"Long before the death of the said Wolstan, Henry Earl of Huntingdon was seised in his demesne as of fee of the manor of Bosworth alias Markett Bosworth in co. Leicester, the advowson of the Church of Bosworth and view of frank pledge of the said manor situate in ... Carleton, Usbaston, Gylmerton and Northkylworth in the said county; and so seised, by indenture dated 10 May [1589] , 31 Eliz., made between himself and Francis Hastings, esq., and Matilda his wife of the 1 part and the said Wolstan Dixie and Dame Agnes his wife, sold the said premises to the said Wolstan and Dame Agnes and the heirs of the said Wolstan for ever."
